The Bible claims that all children are disciplined by their fathers. But according to the Bible, that’s not true.

Some fathers spare their children from punishment because they have compassion on them. And some fathers refuse to discipline their children because they hate them.

Eli knew his sons were blaspheming God, but he didn’t do anything to stop them. David never even questioned his son Adonijah’s behavior. Paul was a father to the Corinthians, but he apparently didn’t discipline them; he let them off with a warning.
