The Parable of the Failed Vineyard

Someone tried to plant a vineyard, but the grapes he grew weren’t any good. He couldn’t figure out what he had done wrong, so he decided it must be the grapes’ fault. And so he destroyed his vineyard.

The end.

The moral of the story

Don’t over-water your vineyard.

Interpretation

God tried to start a new nation, even though he knew he wouldn’t like how it would turn out. But the people he made weren’t any good, even though they were made by a perfect designer. He couldn’t figure out what he had done wrong, even though he knew everything. He decided it must be the people’s fault, even though he directed all their steps.

So God made sure his people would never repent, even though he wants all people to be saved. And he destroyed his nation, even though he is a God of peace who has compassion on all he has made.
